How can you prepare your garden for the summer?

Determining what you want from your outdoor area, no matter the size, should start now to allow for planning, organisation, and execution.

The opportunity to sit outside on a nice evening, is one of life's great joys. But, what can you do if you don't have a garden? You may want to open a window and let the night-scented air in, or if you have a balcony, purchase some cosy furniture and fairy lights to create an inviting feel. Our connection to the natural world is instinctive and vital!

Following a summer shower, the aroma of flowers, the sound of birds, or the buzz of insects is soothing. Despite this, we frequently allow our open spaces to be used as dumping sites or play fields. It's time to make the most of your resources!

A straightforward and simple way to completely redesign your garden is to take a scientific approach to getting the 'bones' correct. Then look at a variety of plants, furniture, lighting, and accessories, none of which need to be expensive or time-consuming.

If, on the other hand, you've just moved into your first home and there is a lot of extra rubbish to be removed, a 'come and empty the garden' party with friends and family is a quick and easy way to get a blank canvas in a fraction of the time it would take you to do it yourself.

Remember to bring plenty of food and possibly host a barbecue... and then, most importantly, once the task is over, celebration drinks! Alternatively, you may hire professional removers.

Once the garden is clear, you can prepare to make use of the opportunities available!
